What is Interact?

​

Launched in 1962, Interact is an international organization of service, part of Rotary International, which fosters leadership and responsible citizenship, and promotes international understanding and peace. The name “Interact” was created by combining the words “international” and “action.”

 

Sponsored by Rotary Clubs, Interact clubs are for youth ages 12-18, and can be associated with a community or a school.   Interact club members have fun while carrying out service projects and learning about the world. Every Interact club organizes at least two service projects a year: one that benefits their community and one that encourages international understanding.

 

While Interact clubs receive guidance from their sponsoring Rotary Clubs, they govern and support themselves.

 

Today, there are over 14,900 Interact clubs with more than 342,000 members in 145 countries. "Interactors" develop skills in leadership and attain practical experience in conducting service projects, thereby learning the satisfaction that comes from serving others.

 

One of the best things about Interact is that it connects young leaders with Rotary’s global community, enabling them to build relationships, learn about other cultures, and exchange ideas with peers worldwide.
